Vintage English Chinoiserie Tin, Green & Gilt Octagonal Tea Box

An octagonal tin dressed up in jade green and gilt chinoiserie; little cartouches of figures and gardens, a gold lined interior that still catches the light. Made to hold biscuits or tea, also suited to rings, stamps, secrets.

Stamped by the Metal Box Company of England, the great mid century tin maker; the kind of humble object that ages into proper character.

Estimated era: 1940s to 1960s.
Age: likely 60 to 85 years, read from the maker's mark and litho.
Dimensions: small octagonal tin, 5" across.
Carrying the soft patina that only time can give; light surface scratches and wear about the interior and exterior of the item.
