Vintage 60s Day Dress: Alison Ayres, Black & Burgundy Knit

1960s does 1920s. Classic Alison Ayres. A flapper day dress for the woman who romanticises her own ordinary afternoons: a deep V neck, a row of little buttons down the bodice, then a skirt that drops into a soft godet flare made for walking and the occasional twirl. The knit is black shot through with smoky burgundy, so it reads almost black until the light catches the wine in it. Demure and seductive.

Alison Ayres Original. The cut nods squarely to the 1920s day dress: dropped ease through the waist, a long lean line, that unhurried Jazz Age elegance. That gorgeous 1960s soft knit is undeniably chic.
