Set of 3 Antique Victorian Green Glass Embossed Apothecary Jars, Tokyo

Three little jars in seafoam green, pressed glass catching the light like river water, each capped with a dark screw lid, worn with maximum character. Made to hold powders, pills, salves, or whatever small things a vanity keeps close. A trio that has clearly sat on someone's shelf for a very long time, embossed at the base and entirely functional.

Small embossed apothecary and cosmetic pots like these were turned out in great number from the late Victorian era through the early twentieth century, when chemists and dressing tables alike relied on glass. The faint green tint comes from the iron in old window glass, a maker's fingerprint of the period. Useful objects that have outlived their use and become beautiful instead. Sourced in Tokyo.

Estimated era: late 1800s to early 1900s. Roughly 100 to 130 years, read from the green glass tint, the embossed bases, and the patina on the lids.
