1960's Coronet US Military Dress Jacket, Army Green, Brass Eagle Buttons

Proper military tailoring, army green wool, a sharp lapel, brass eagle buttons marching down the front and gold service stripes on the sleeve. Borrowed straight off a parade ground and made for civilian mischief, worn open over a slip or buttoned up with nothing underneath.

This is a US Army Green Service Uniform coat, the classic "Class A" dress green jacket in the "Army Green shade 44" (AG‑44) wool serge. Tagged 1960s by the famous vintage collector extraordinaire, Jill Wax of La France Ybor.

The Army green uniform was introduced in 1954 and became the standard service dress by the late 1950s, staying in use for decades. This one has the hallmarks of the 1950s–60s cut: single‑breasted, four gold Great Seal (eagle) buttons, notched lapels, and four flap pockets. "Coronet" is the maker/contractor label (a common mid‑century uniform manufacturer).

The sleeve stripes. The stacked gold diagonal bars near the left cuff are overseas service bars (each one represents six months of overseas service). That's an authentic detail, not decoration, which adds a little collector interest. It reads as genuine military issue (wool serge, proper buttons, quilted-ish lined interior). Worn open and belted, it works great as an oversized vintage blazer.
